Litter Intelligence & beach cleanups

Beach and marine litter are a major risk to our local marine environment with Kāpiti Island particularly exposed to marine litter as it drifts past on the prevailing currents from both relatively near and far sources.  Litter Intelligence is a nationwide citizen science beach litter monitoring programme run by award winning charity 

Sustainable Coastlines that aims to collect data about litter on our coastlines.  Guardians volunteers have been conducting regular litter surveys at Paraparaumu beach and at sites on Kapiti Island as part of this programme.  To get involved join the Litter Intelligence Kapiti facebook group or by completing this expression of interest form.
